Please Reconsider Nasty Divorces

So many people are deceived and believe participating in a long, drawn-out nasty divorce is the solution to their life’s problems.

Please reconsider.  Divorce won’t solve your problems.

In Family Court, You’re Fighting Against Your Own Family

This isn’t civil court, or criminal court.

Family Law is totally different.

Whether it’s custody, or finances, you are taking from your pooled resources to tear yourselves apart.

The money belongs to your family!

Two Examples Where Using Human Strength and Aggression Backfires

In a custody case, where the other side submitted a 100+ page binder to attack my client, my client did not retaliate.

Result?  She was awarded sole custody.

Badmouthing always backfires in custody cases.

Judges tend to award custody to the parent who is more able to coparent.

Even If You Win That One Time In Court, the Bad Feelings Continue

In Family Court, it’s not really about the money.  Repeat after me.  In Family Court, it’s not really about the money.

That’s why couples spend $100,000 to fight over $5,000.  And why after you’ve paid millions of dollars to “win”, you still feel completely empty inside.  It’s also why so many murders happen in family court.

The world places a premium on fleshly desires like money and winning.  However, the highs from those never last.  You may “win” your first, second, third, fourth divorces, but you have “lost” so much more!

What about things of true value, like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control?

You may have “won” attorneys’ fees, or more time with that child – under man’s law.  But you’ve lost all else – love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  And against these there is no law.

You will never truly have peace from anything awarded to you in family court.

Humility

Choose humility over hubris in divorce.

Not by Might, not by power, but by the power of His Spirit.
